Academy of Film and Creative Technology successfully held the Open Day

On 15 December 2024, the Academy of Film and Creative Technology (AFCT) at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University successfully held its Open Day, drawing the enthusiastic participation of over a hundred attendees. Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the academy's teaching environment, course features, and the creative achievements of its students.

At the beginning of the event, the Academy provided participants with introductions and promotional materials for each programme, giving parents and students an initial understanding of the curriculum. Subsequently, Yijun Guo, the director of the Digital Media Arts programme, introduced the outstanding works from the 5th Digital Media Arts Exhibition, showcasing the students' technical abilities and innovative thinking.

In the introduction session for the TV Production (TV and StreamlineProduction) programme, participants could experience the Academy's state-of-the-art TV studio and feel the entire program production process. Under the guidance of academic staff Tianzuo Shi, parents and students gained a more intuitive understanding of television studies and highly praised the Academy's practical teaching capabilities.

The introduction to the Filmmaking programme was equally captivating, with participants watching the short film "Down to the Rabbit Hole" at the cinema. This work demonstrated the film production skills of the academy's students and reflected their unique narrative perspectives. Academic staff Biwei Cong explained the Filmmaking programme's advantages and the student's employment prospects.

In addition to the programme introductions and student work displays, the Dean of the Academy of Fim and Creative Technology, Professor Qian Liu, also emphasized the unique features of the Academy's curriculum, including practical teaching, the integration of technology and creativity, and a focus on artificial intelligence and special effects technology. These features make the Academy's modules stand out in the industry and give students a competitive edge in their future careers.

It is worth mentioning that the Academy specially set up a virtual shooting scene to demonstrate the technical and creative strengths of the academy's courses to parents and students attending the Open Day. This segment allowed participants to experience the charm of virtual shooting and gave them a deeper understanding of the Academy's teaching capabilities.

The Open Day event was widely welcomed, and participants highly praised the Academy's facilities, modules, and teaching philosophy. Through this event, the Academy of Film and Creative Technology at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University showcased its professional strength in film and creative technology and further bridged the gap with potential students and parents. The academy looks forward to attracting more students interested in the field of film and creative technology in the future to jointly explore the infinite possibilities of art and technology.
