Dr. Sekar Raju, Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching in the School of Science at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), has been awarded the Springer Nature Editorial Contributions Award 2025 in recognition of his exceptional editorial contributions to BMC Microbiology, a Springer Nature journal.
Springer Nature honours the outstanding efforts of its editorial community through the Editor of Distinctions Awards, which include two categories: The Springer Nature Editorial Contribution Award and the Springer Nature Author Service Award. The Editorial Contribution Award celebrates the "meticulous assessment of submissions and rigorous management of the peer review process, safeguarding the scientific accuracy of published work," as stated in the award email sent to Dr. Raju by Dr. Ritu Dhand, Chief Scientific Officer of Springer Nature.
Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Raju shared his thoughts on receiving this prestigious award “I am truly honoured to receive this award, which recognizes my editorial contributions to BMC Microbiology. It reflects my consistent dedication to evaluating submissions and upholding rigorous peer review standards to maintain high editorial quality in scholarly publishing".
"I am grateful for the supportive academic environment at our School of Science and XJTLU, which has allowed me to actively engage in academic service alongside my teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities", he added.
Professor John Moraros, Dean of the School of Science at XJTLU, commented, "Warm congratulations to Dr. Raju on this well-deserved recognition. This award is a testament to his dedication, professionalism, and invaluable editorial contributions to BMC Microbiology."
Dr. Raju served as an Associate Editor for BMC Microbiology from 2018 to 2020 and has been a Senior Board Member (SBM) of the journal since 2020.
