Recently, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) was delighted to host two distinguished academics from Japan: Professor Sachiko Horiguchi from Temple University, Japan Campus and Professor Choon Kiat Sim from Showa Women's University.
The academic visit was aimed at gaining an understanding of XJTLU's unique educational model, outstanding campus facilities, and its successful philosophy on innovative education. The professors held fruitful discussions with faculty members from the School of Science, exploring cutting-edge developments in research and innovative practices in higher education.
During the visit, Professor Horiguchi met with the Dean of the School of Science, Professor John Moraros. Professor Horiguchi introduced Temple University, Japan Campus and its unique characteristics. Dean Moraros expressed great enthusiasm for the potential collaboration between the two institutions and a strong desire to explore deeper cooperation in areas such as student-faculty exchange and joint research programs.
Professor Horiguchi was deeply impressed by XJTLU's innovative practice of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into its research, teaching and learning systems. Additionally, she experienced the unique AI Cafe on campus and witnessed firsthand how XJTLU Professors are utilizing intelligent tools like the XIPU AI Agent, embedded in the Learning Mall, to enhance classroom interaction with our students and make teaching and learning more efficient. Professor Akhil Garg from the Department of Chemistry and Materials Science and Professor Ankit Garg from Department of Health and Environmental Sciences also attended this collegial session and acted as capable ambassadors for XJTLU. They discussed their practical experience and outcomes of using the XIPU AI Agent in their teaching modules, sparking in-depth discussions on the future of education at XJTLU.
This international visit enhanced our mutual understanding and laid a solid foundation for future collaboration between XJTLU and leading universities in Japan. We look forward to opening a new chapter of global cooperation together soon!
