Recently, the 2025 XJTLU AI Digital Intelligence Integration University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition concluded successfully. Co-hosted by Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), the Suzhou Dushu Lake Science and Education Innovation Zone Administrative Committee, and Suzhou Yuanhe Holdings Co., Ltd., the competition was jointly organised by the XJTLU International Innovation Port, the Career Development Centre, and Dushu Lake Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Port. Centred on the cutting-edge theme of “AI digital intelligence integration” and with two strands: technological innovation and industrial integration, the competition collected 85 high-quality projects. After rigorous evaluation, 14 teams progressed to the final.

In the high-stakes final pitch, the cross-university AI track team established and mentored by Dr Jianwen Zheng, Associate Professor at the XJTLU International Business School Suzhou (IBSS), stood out from a strong field. Comprising master's students from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) School of Mechanical Engineering, as well as doctoral, master's and undergraduate students from XJTLU, the team won third prize with their project, “AI-Assisted XR Content Creation Platform” securing 100,000 RMB in entrepreneurial funding.
Innovative Project: AI+XR Content Creation Empowers Multi-Scenario Applications
Built around an “Agent Film Crew” model, the project enables no-code, low-threshold XR content creation through natural-language interaction. The platform supports multi-terminal adaptation, covering diverse scenarios including B2B (corporate training, exhibition and display) and B2B (film and television production, game development). The team is building an asset library, functional modules and a creator ecosystem, providing an end-to-end solution for the deep integration of AI and XR.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration Demonstrates Integrated Innovation Strength
The team brings together expertise spanning AI, R&D, business model design, operations and creative planning, leveraging the complementary disciplinary strengths of IBSS and SJTU School of Mechanical Engineering. With close guidance of Dr Jianwen Zheng, the team excelled in business model design, technological scenario exploration and collaboration optimisation, earning unanimous praise from the judges.
Dr Jianwen Zheng stated: “This competition is not only a test of innovation capability but also a vivid practice of interdisciplinary and inter-university collaboration. The team has demonstrated the broad potential of AI+XR technology and reflected the firm commitment of IBSS and myself as a teacher in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation to supporting students' innovation and entrepreneurship.”

From Competition to Market: Project Launch in Suzhou Industrial Park
Following the win, the team plans to formally establish a company leveraging the industrial and policy resources available in Suzhou Industrial Park, to advance the commercialisation of the project. They will focus on expanding application scenarios such as corporate training, exhibitions and showcases, film and television production, and game development, and further the integration of AI and XR technologies across industry.
IBSS: Championing Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education
IBSS is committed to developing students' global outlook and capacity for innovation through interdisciplinary, cross-field practice platforms. This result also demonstrates the School's active work in bringing together university-enterprise resources and promoting industry-university-research collaboration.
As part of the “Dream Realisation Future · Suzhou Industrial Park Youth Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Action Plan”, the competition has helped create a genuine “two-way flow” between young talent and regional development. XJTLU International Innovation Port will continue to match winning teams with the right partners and resources, helping them make the leap from idea to market.
