18 Mar 2026

The Academy of Future Education recently hosted an open day for its master’s and Doctor of Education (EdD) programmes, attracting prospective students and their families. Through a combination of presentations, open classes and interactive sessions, participants gained insights into the Academy’s academic offerings, programme design and learning environment.

Professor Xiaojun Zhang, Chief Officer of Education and Executive Dean of the Academy of Future Education, noted that in a context of rapid technological advancement and ongoing social change, demand for learning continues to grow while education itself is undergoing transformation. He highlighted that the role of educators is expanding, requiring professionals who can design and facilitate learning.

He added that the Academy aims to develop education practitioners and leaders who can address real-world challenges and drive innovation in learning. By engaging with authentic contexts, students are supported in strengthening their professional capabilities and extending their impact.

Developing Practitioner–Researchers from Professional Experience
Dr Na Li, Head of the Department of Educational Studies and EdD Programme Director, introduced the overall design and educational approach of the EdD programme. She outlined the curriculum structure, student profile and learning ecosystem, noting the diversity of professional backgrounds among current students.
“Participants bring their own professional experience into the classroom, forming a rich learning network through dialogue and collaboration,” she said.
The programme is designed to address real educational challenges through research-informed practice and global collaboration. Dr Li also highlighted opportunities for students to participate in academic conferences, as well as diverse pathways for academic development and career progression. She noted that the Academy’s international faculty and learning environment provide sustained support for students’ professional growth.
During an open class, Professor Ange Fitzgerald guided participants through a core feature of the EdD programme: developing research from professional practice. She emphasised that EdD research often begins not with methods or topics, but with practitioners’ identities and real-world challenges.
三大硕士项目:培养面向未来的教育领导者

The Academy currently offers three master’s programmes: Global Education, Child Development and Family Education, and Digital Education.

Dr Na Li also introduced the teaching model and learning experience across the master’s programmes. She explained that project-based learning is embedded throughout the curriculum, with students encouraged to make effective use of AI tools to support their learning and practice.

Within this model, students engage with real-world projects, accumulate practical experience, and have opportunities to participate in faculty research and industry collaborations. The Academy also provides platforms such as career fairs and practice-based learning projects to connect students with real-world opportunities.

As part of the open day, Dr Stefan Reindl from the International Education programme delivered an open class on intercultural communication, offering participants a direct experience of the University’s diverse learning environment. Through interactive activities and case discussions, attendees gained a clearer understanding of communication across cultural contexts.

The event also included consultation sessions, where the Recruitment Manager, programme directors and current student representatives engaged with visitors to answer questions on curriculum design, learning experience, career pathways and application procedures.
