GCLH Celebrates International Women's Day: A Recap of All Our Activities

The Global Cultures and Languages Hub (GCLH) at XJTLU hosted an array of exciting events to mark International Women's Day, bringing together students and staff for a week full of creativity, empowerment, and meaningful discussions. From the Student Video Competition to health talks, arts & crafts, and fundraising efforts, our community came together to celebrate this important day.

The Student Video Competition winners were Ruoxuan Wang (EAP041), who took first place, followed by Hao Liu (EAP045) and Tianyi Shen (EAP045). Their inspiring videos celebrated the achievements of women and offered a platform to highlight their stories.

Dr. Zhang (Gynecology) and Dr. Wang (Physiotherapy) from Distinct Healthcare gave informative talks at the Female Health Salon, shedding light on women's health topics and providing expert insights on gynecology and physiotherapy.

Throughout the week, the Message Tree / Photo Booth allowed students and staff to write personal messages to inspirational women and take memorable photos. Additionally, the Climate Fresk Quiz, held on March 10th and 12th, allowed participants to engage in an interactive discussion about climate change and its impact, with a special promise board encouraging everyone to make positive changes.

Our Movie Nights featured the film Hidden Figures on March 10th and Young Woman and the Sea on March 12th, bringing the community together to watch inspiring movies that empower women. Popcorn and snacks were provided for all to enjoy.

On March 11th, the Arts & Crafts and Interactive Games session offered students the chance to unleash their creativity with activities like crochet, brocade keychains, and shell inlay accessories. Interactive games also provided a fun and engaging way to learn about inspirational women.

In addition, our staff fundraising activities—the Bake Sale, Jumble Sale, and Silent ‘Give-to-Get’ Fundraiser - raised a total of 5,350 RMB for the China Women’s Development Foundation. The funds will support the development of women across China, making a positive impact through the generosity of our community.
