On 15 April 2026, the College of Industry-Entrepreneurs (CIE) and the HeXie Management Research Centre (HeXie Academy) at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University hosted a "Meet the Executive Dean and Director" engagement event, providing an important platform for face-to-face communication between the Executive Dean and students. The event featured in-depth exchanges on development strategy, talent cultivation models, and student development platforms, aiming to enhance faculty–student interaction and deepen students’ understanding of the Academy and Centre’s overall development.

During the engagement session, Professor Xiaobo Xu, Executive Dean of CIE and Director of the HeXie Academy, provided a comprehensive overview of the latest developments of the Academy and Centre. He elaborated on the core philosophy of integrating the industry, university, research, government and society, and highlighted the key role of the XJTLU X-Eco Mall in integrating resources across industry, education, and research. Meanwhile, the Academy and Centre continue to advance its teaching quality enhancement initiatives through coordinated efforts in governance optimisation, curriculum development, faculty advancement, and student support services, thereby continuously improving the overall quality of teaching and learning.

Subsequently, Dr. Furong Jia, Deputy Director of the Smart Ageing and Health Management pathway of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation MSc programme, introduced the Year 2 training model of the programme. She focused on the practical implementation of Syntegrative Education and Project-Based Learning, which enable students to enhance their innovation capabilities and practical competencies through real-world project engagement.

The event also introduced a range of student organisations within the Academy and Centre, including the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Student Club (EISC), Student Club of Talent Ecosystem Development (TEDA), Smart Aging and Health Management Club (SAHC), and HeXie Mindset Development Association (HMDA). These platforms provide multi-dimensional support for students in academic development, practical engagement, and career advancement.

Mr. Binyu Yang, President of the CIE & HeXie Alumni Association, presented the alumni network. Guided by the vision of “inheriting the HeXie Mindset and Industry-Entrepreneurs’ spirit and building a mutually beneficial alumni network,” the association offers continuous support in career development, resource connection, and academic exchange. Alumni are currently active across state-owned enterprises, multinational corporations, academia, and entrepreneurial ventures, and continue to contribute to the development of the Academy and Centre.

After listening to the insights shared at this event, Zhao, a student specializing in the Enterprise Governance, Innovation, and Succession pathway, was deeply inspired. Currently, Zhao is self-employed in the field of traditional Chinese-style jewelry. The concepts of HeXie management, industry-education integration resources, and ecosystem development conveyed at the event align closely with Zhao's entrepreneurial direction. In the future, CIE & HeXie Academy will leverage platform and resource advantages to provide systematic support in key areas including brand building, market expansion, and enterprise globalization, helping Chinese traditional culture step onto a broader international stage.

During the interactive session, a music-themed interactive activity was held to further liven up the communication atmosphere. Participants were presented with commemorative prizes, including XJTLU teddy bears and the book What Management Could Be and Do.

Looking ahead, CIE and the HeXie Academy will continue to be guided by HeXie Management Theory, further deepen the integration of industry and education, and enhance the innovation ecosystem. The Academy and Centre remain committed to providing strong support for student development, alumni growth, and industrial innovation, fostering collaborative value creation across stakeholders.
