ALC Mascot Contest Winners Announced

The Academic Literacies Centre (ALC) proudly hosted the Award Ceremony for the ALC Mascot Design Contest on May 13th, celebrating the creativity, imagination, and artistic talent of the participating students.

ALC has been committed to building a strong identity by actively engaging both students and staff across the XJTLU community. To support this goal, the ALC Marketing Team launched the Mascot Design Contest, an exciting initiative inviting the university community to contribute to the development of the ALC brand.

The contest unfolded in two dynamic rounds. In Round 1, students voted for their favorite mascot animal from a lively lineup of eight candidates, including the lemur, octopus, dolphin, elephant, squirrel, otter, and more. After an enthusiastic voting campaign involving more than 500 students and staff, two finalists emerged victorious: the Capybara and the Penguin.

Round 2 challenged students to transform these beloved animals into original mascot designs. Participants were invited to feature the Capybara, the Penguin, or both together as friends, rivals, or even frenemies. Over the course of a month, the competition attracted a diverse array of creative and high-quality entries.

All entries were carefully reviewed by a professional judging panel. Each judge evaluated the submissions independently, and the final winners were determined based on the combined scores.

The award ceremony brought together students and staff to recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements of all participants. During the event, the Head of ALC shared insightful comments on the winning entries and praised students for their originality, artistic skills, and enthusiasm.

The ceremony concluded with heartfelt congratulations to all winners and sincere appreciation to every student who contributed to the contest’s success. Building on the excitement generated by the competition, the ALC plans to launch a series of follow-up creative activities in the coming semester, including a story-writing competition featuring the Capybara and Penguin mascots as the main characters.
