24 May 2026

23 May 2026 – The Belt and Road Forum on Industry-Education Integration and Innovation, themed "The New Era of Navigation: Educational Innovation and the Opportunities and Challenges of Chinese Enterprises Going Global," was successfully held at XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang). The forum was co-hosted by the College of Industry-Entrepreneurs (CIE) and HeXie Management Centre (HeXie Academy) at XJTLU and the Peking University Sustainability Research Institute. It was organised by the Belt and Road Division (Central and Eastern Europe) and the SLUGU International Innovation Education Centre. The event brought together over 250 representatives from government, academia, and industry at home and abroad to explore new pathways for industry-education integration to drive industrial development and the internationalisation of higher education.

The forum focused on three core themes: exploring innovative models for the internationalisation of Chinese universities through industry-education integration along the Belt and Road; building an "industry-university-research-government-society" collaborative ecosystem to support Chinese enterprises operating overseas; and cultivating versatile, globally minded talent with a strong Chinese foundation and deep industrial insight.

In his welcome address, Prof. Xiaobo Xu, Executive Dean of the College of Industry-Entrepreneurs (CIE) and Director of the HeXie Management Centre (HeXie Academy) at XJTLU, noted that the forum was a significant continuation of the 20th-anniversary high-quality development conference of XJTLU. He introduced that the College and Centre are fully committed to building the "X-Eco Mall", with four flagship sub-ecosystems already under construction: Kunshan Model, Healthy Ageing & Silver Economy Ecosystem, Go-Global Ecosystem, HR Service Ecosystem. The Belt and Road Division (Central and Eastern Europe) and (Singapore) are continuously providing international resource links and collaborative support to these sub-ecosystems, extending platform resources overseas and offering full-cycle support for the globalisation of Chinese enterprises.

Mr. Jun Li, Chairman of the Western Returned Scholars Foundation, emphasised that industry-education integration is a strategic engine for cultivating new productive forces and supporting the globalisation of Chinese enterprises. Ms. Rong Di, Deputy Director of the Trade and Investment Promotion Department at CCPIT Shanghai, noted that the needs of enterprises going global have shifted from simply expanding markets to talent alignment, regulatory compliance, and ecosystem collaboration. Dzsenifer Halmai, Commercial Consul, and János Róbert Füle, Cultural and Educational Consul of the Consulate General of Hungary in Shanghai, promoted Hungary’s business environment and educational advantages, building bridges for Sino-Hungarian educational cooperation and industrial collaboration, thereby facilitating market entry into Central and Eastern Europe.
During the keynote speech session, several experts and scholars shared their insights. Mr. Yiwei Wang, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Division at the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) under the Ministry of Education, delivered a speech entitled "A Two-Way Journey: International Talent Development and the Globalisation of Chinese Enterprises," arguing that returned overseas talent is a vital cornerstone for enterprise globalisation and calling for deeper enterprise involvement in the entire talent cultivation process.

Ms. Yunxiao Xu, Dean of the Peking University Sustainability Research Institute, spoke on "Advancing International Industry-Education Integration Through Urban Soft Power." She proposed recommendations for curriculum systems, practice frameworks, and service systems to realise a vision where "cities jointly cultivate talent," "enterprises co-create talent," and "Sino-foreign cooperation leads to shared innovation."

Prof. Youmin Xi, Executive President of XJTLU, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Navigating the Future: Innovation Ecosystems and HeXie Wisdom." He reviewed XJTLU’s 20-year development journey, articulated the concept of integrating education and industry in an era of profound change, and introduced XJTLU’s innovation ecosystem. He emphasised that XJTLU is committed to cultivating world players and societal industry-entrepreneurs who can define future problems, link global resources, and transform ideas into practice, using integrative capabilities and HeXie wisdom to meet the challenges of globalisation.

In the session on Belt and Road practices in Central and Eastern Europe (CEEC), moderated by Prof. Lei Liang of XJTLU CIE and HeXie Academy, Mr. Jian Geng, Industrial Dean of the Belt and Road Division (Central and Eastern Europe) at XJTLU CIE, highlighted the "5+4+1" innovative curriculum system of the SLUGU International Innovation Education Centre: five innovation courses, four innovation platforms, and one study-and-research ecosystem platform. This system enables a closed-loop empowerment model of "learning – practice – employment – entrepreneurship."

Ms. Lan Gao, Chief Operating Officer of the Lin-gang Special Area "Going Global" Comprehensive Service Platform in Shanghai, elaborated on a one-stop comprehensive service system for Chinese enterprises expanding overseas. Mr. Xinjian Zhou, former Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Hungary and Executive General Manager of CSCEC Xiaoxiang Hungary Company, shared practical experiences on the investment landscape and development pathways of Chinese enterprises in Hungary.

During the achievements release session, Mr. Xuejin Zuo, former Executive Vice President of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, presented six key Belt and Road research outputs, covering theoretical innovation, practical guidance, and strategic planning.

The forum concluded with the launch ceremony of the Belt and Road Industry-Education Integration Ecosystem Platform Alliance, witnessed by all attending guests. The alliance connects industrial parks, business associations, and high-quality enterprises to build an integrated service platform for innovative education, industry-education integration, and internship-to-employment pathways, advancing the translation of Prof. Youmin Xi’s concepts of innovation ecosystems and HeXie wisdom into practical models for globalising industry-education integration.

Guided by the philosophy of industry-education integration, CIE and HeXie Academy will continue to explore innovative models for the internationalisation of Chinese universities along the Belt and Road, building an ecosystem platform to support the global expansion of Chinese enterprises.
