Innovation & Integration: A Recap of XJTLU Chinese Division's CoP

On June 11, 2026, the Chinese Language Division at XJTLU conducted a Community of Practice. Centered on the themes of "Innovative Teaching Practices," "Standardization and Efficiency Enhancement," and "Technology Integration and Collaboration," the event supported teachers’ professional growth through case sharing, interactive experiences, and group discussions.

During the "Innovative Teaching Practices" session, eight teachers presented excellent case studies that seamlessly integrated language, culture, and educational technology.

Ting Wen shared updates on the micro-teaching exchange between students majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL) and postgraduate students in International Chinese Education from Renmin University of China (Suzhou Campus). This exchange successfully established an intercollegiate platform with Renmin University of China (Suzhou Campus), broadening students' horizons while encouraging peer learning, mutual inspiration, and shared academic progress between both cohorts.

Genying Yan introduced a "treasure hunt" game at the Canglang Pavilion for beginner-level classes, skillfully integrating language learning into real-world observation. In addition, creative hands-on activities such as "Chinese character twist sticks," "character painting," and "emoji-style character creation" made cultural experiences engaging and fun.

Xiaoying Yuan and Minghui Hu co-guided a "Chinese Advertisement Poster Exhibition," where students explored advertising strategies and cultural differences across countries. They presented their posters at the exhibition, enhancing both language skills and critical thinking.

Xiaowen Zou shared an activity titled "Putting Spring in a Bottle, Giving a Bookmark to You," incorporating the grammatically challenging "ba" construction into a vibrant spring-themed creative project where students shared ideas and fostered friendships.

Rui Wang introduced an "Oracle Bone Rubbing" activity in classical Chinese courses, transforming abstract theoretical knowledge into tangible experiences. This inspired students to explore the origins of Chinese characters and reflect on the contemporary value of classical Chinese texts.

Jia Yu organized a visit to a social media-famous blind-dating corner for students to learn authentic expressions in a local living context, deeply experience Chinese everyday life, and establish genuine connections with the community.

Following the case sharing, Jia Yu led all teachers in a hands-on "AI Five-Element Luck-Boosting Bracelet Making" activity, demonstrating how AI tools can inject personalized elements into traditional cultural activities while preserving the interactivity and humanistic warmth of hands-on experiences.

Finally, teachers participated in group discussions, progressing from individual brainstorming to collaborative creation. They designed a series of specific task proposals that integrate AI tools with cultural teaching for the next semester, thereby accumulating valuable resources for teaching innovation.

This Community of Practice featured diverse content and formats, facilitating the exchange of experiences among teachers and generating new ideas for future curriculum innovation. The Chinese Language Division will continue to focus on teaching innovation and technology integration, consistently enhancing the quality and effectiveness of Chinese language education to reach new heights.
