To enrich the carriers for campus cultural communication, enhance the experience of campus navigation services, and celebrate the 20th anniversary of the University, XJTLU Museum officially launched the newly upgraded AR Hand‑Painted XJTLU Map in September 2026. Integrating artistic hand-drawn illustrations with cutting-edge AR digital technology, the new map features practicality, aesthetics and cultural value. It fully showcases the campus scenery and the University’s educational heritage, delivering an immersive brand-new campus experience for faculty, students and visitors.

The new map comprehensively sorts and integrates campus landscape resources, covering all core landmarks, popular sites and distinctive buildings on campus. With delicate hand-painted strokes, it faithfully recreates architectural styles, landscape layouts and cultural scenes, moving beyond the rigid format of conventional maps to vividly depict campus views. Unlike ordinary navigation tools, the map not only provides clear spatial guidance and convenient touring directions, but also preserves the fabric of the campus through artistic creation. It captures the unique warmth and youthful memories of XJTLU, serving as a distinctive cultural vessel carrying the University’s humanistic legacy.

In terms of visual design, this update fully upgrades the visual style with fresh, lively and playful hand-painted cartoon art that breathes vitality into the structured campus landscapes. Besides the exquisitely illustrated main map, a supplementary page with exclusive campus check-in stickers is included. Visitors may follow the mapped routes to explore the campus in person, attach scenic stickers to their corresponding spots and record their travel trails by hand. Each sticker marks a one-of-a-kind record of campus exploration. The vivid visuals and interactive elements lower the barriers to campus exploration, helping new students and visitors get familiar with the campus and its attractions effortlessly. Meanwhile, the map gains greater aesthetic and collectible value.

Powered by digital functions, the map allows users to trigger AR interactions via compatible devices to view 3D models of classic campus landmarks and featured sites, offering an immersive glimpse into the University’s evolutionary journey. Supported by accompanying digital texts, images and video materials that document the construction history of landmark buildings and campus development stories, users can gain in-depth insights into XJTLU’s two decades of academic accumulation and development while touring and checking guide information.

Committed to campus cultural development, XJTLU Museum keeps innovating forms of cultural communication and developing diverse, digital campus cultural products. The release of the new AR Hand‑Painted XJTLU Map marks a key practice of leveraging digital technology to empower campus cultural communication. It improves the campus public service system, enriches campus cultural scenarios and adds a vibrant medium for the University’s anniversary events. Going forward, the University will continue to explore the connotation of campus culture, tell XJTLU’s stories and carry forward its cultural heritage through digital innovation, fully demonstrating its charm and humanistic elegance.
