Director of the unit
Professor Zhaoli Zhou
Prof. Zhaoli Zhou holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Cornell University. Prior to joining academia, she held a number of key positions in leading multinational biopharmaceutical companies, including Process Technology Manager at Sanofi (USA), Technical Transfer Project Lead at Samsung Biologics (South Korea), and Head of Manufacturing Sciences and Technology at BeiGene (Guangzhou) and Innovent Biologics (Suzhou), China.
Throughout her industrial career, Prof. Zhou managed multidisciplinary technical teams covering cell culture, purification, formulation, and technical support functions, ensuring efficient biopharmaceutical manufacturing while maintaining compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) requirements.
Prof. Zhou is currently a Professor at the XJTLU Wisdom Lake Academy of Pharmacy. Her research focuses on innovative biopharmaceuticals and intelligent manufacturing technologies, with particular interests in integrated continuous manufacturing and bioconjugate therapeutics. In addition to her academic and industrial activities, she actively contributes to professional working groups within international organisations such as the Biophorum (formerly BPSA), the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA), and the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE). She is an inventor on multiple patents and has published a number of influential papers in the field of biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing.
