STEM-EXPERIENCE ROBOTICS SUMMER CAMP 2025

Dive into the world of STEM and robotics with our enriching Robotics Summer Camp at XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang), situated in the heart of the world’s most dynamic and technologically innovative economy. This unique two-week STEM experience, with an optional two-week extension into immersive technopreneurship, offers you the opportunity to explore the practical applications of robotics for specific user cases, guided by the expertise of a passionate community of technologists eager to tackle real-world challenges. At this summer camp, here’s what awaits you:

Whether you are a high-school student or an undergraduate, our STEM-experience Robotics Summer Camp is designed to elevate your journey in STEM learning. This camp is open to students of all academic backgrounds, offering a unique chance to dive deep into the world of STEM beyond the confines of traditional classroom settings. At our camp, you’ll engage in hands-on learning that’s both immersive and exhilarating. Looking to amplify your STEM experience this summer? Through immersive activities, field trips, and hands-on robotics prototype development, participants will work together to transform their ideas into reality after extensive exploration. Our program is built on the foundation of collaboration and interdisciplinary learning, embracing diverse perspectives to craft sustainable solutions with tangible impact. Throughout this journey, participants will not only deepen their understanding of STEM disciplines through the practical application of robotics but will also cultivate a robust entrepreneurial spirit. By the end of the programme, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of STEM disciplines, with a particular focus on robotics. Students who choose the 4-week option will also develop a deeper insight into technopreneurship, fostering an innovative mindset. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to prepare a submission for the XJTLU Global Entrepreneurial Dream-chasers Competition, and the potential to excel in a future dominated by technology.

Summer Camp Information

The summer camp shifts away from conventional teaching and dedicates more than 75% of its agenda to hands-on activities, applied projects, and industrial or societal problem-solving.

Two Options

Option 1 – Two weeks on STEM-experience Robotics Camp, from 30 June to 13 July 2025

Option 2 – Two weeks on Robotics Camp plus two weeks on Technopreneurship Summer School, from 30 June to 25 July 2025

Weekly Themes

Each week features a specific theme focusing on practical tasks:

• Week 1 Exploration Week: Kick off your journey with a deep dive into Design Thinking, where you’ll generate innovative ideas tailored to specific user cases. Enhance your understanding of the robotics industry through enlightening field trips to successful companies. This week sets the foundation for creative thinking and industry awareness.
• Week 2 Innovation Week: Collaborate on cutting-edge robotics projects and bring your ideas to life. Utilize our state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and tap into the wealth of knowledge offered by external experts. This week is all about turning concepts into tangible prototypes through teamwork and expert guidance.
• Week 3 Transformation Week: Engage in the X3 Co-Venture at the XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang), a hub for startup innovation. Participate in a week-long competition sprint that challenges you to think like an entrepreneur. This transformative experience culminates in the opportunity to enter the XJTLU Global Entrepreneurial Dream-chasers Competition.
• Week 4 Cross-Cultural Challenges Week: Embrace the complexities of cross-cultural collaboration. Building on the knowledge and skills acquired in previous weeks, this segment offers language workshops in English and Chinese to prepare you for real-world interactions within Chinese society. Test your newfound skills and cultural competencies in a series of engaging challenges.

Accommodation

Accommodation needs to be paid separately. You will stay at our new XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang) accommodation building on campus. You can choose a single room (¥375 per week), each equipped with an ensuite bathroom, wardrobe, study desk and enclosed balcony. The building is a few minutes walk from your sessions and has a variety of restaurants and shops nearby.

By the time you have completed this summer camp, you will have:

• robotic prototyping expertise: Engage in an interdisciplinary approach to bring your robotic ideas to life. From employing Design Thinking for ideation to utilising 3D printing for mechanical parts, delve into mechatronics and computer vision with Python;
• industrial insight: Acquire a deep understanding of the Chinese robotics industry and its significance on the global stage;
• collaborative innovation: Learn to thrive in dynamic situations by embracing diverse viewpoints, engaging in risk-taking, and applying effective problem-solving strategies;
• entrepreneurship mastery: Harness real-life projects to cultivate an entrepreneurial skill set, tackle real problems, and refine your ability to pitch ideas convincingly;
• cross-cultural understanding: Test your skills in society, solve cultural, business or technological problems in the region, and present potential solutions through teamwork and newfound awareness.
