The Spatial Analysis and Policy (SAP) Research Lab provides a research collaboration platform within and beyond the Department of Urban Planning and Design. The academic focus of the SAP lab is local and regional spatial patterns, processes and relevant policies addressing economic, environmental and social challenges facing cities and regions in China and across the world.
Mission
The SAP Research Lab develops scholars in the fields of geography, regional science, public policy, and allied social and natural sciences rooted in the applied multidisciplinary field of urban and regional planning. The Lab also facilitates cross-disciplinary collaboration with various academic units, policy institutions and industrial organisations to create research initiatives in areas such as environmental management, urban management, housing and real estate, and transport planning and management.

The SAP Research Lab aims to cultivate a group of nationally influential and internationally recognised scholars by facilitating the production of research with high academic quality and policy significance.
