The English Language Centre (ELC) supports students in achieving high-quality academic study by offering English for Academic Purposes (EAP) modules. These modules enhance English language skills while teaching essential academic and life skills necessary for success, and prepare students for further studies at the University of Liverpool or other international institutions.
The ELC has a team of 120 full-time teachers from more than 10 countries, most of whom are graduates of prestigious universities with specialisations in education and language. Our academic staff hold international teaching certifications and possess extensive experience in language instruction.
Learning and Teaching
The English Language Centre (ELC) is home to all credit-bearing English language modules. These include five Year One EAP modules, one Year Two EAP module, and two Year One optional modules on culture and sustainability. ELC classes are based on small-group seminars of typically 20 to 25 students. Each is designed to be engaging, facilitating both individual and group development in language and academic skills.
