主题:Discovery and Functional Study of Bacterial Defense Phage Immune Genes

活动简介

At present, the game between bacteria and bacteriophages has formed a cutting-edge field that was almost boiling like the 1948 California Gold Rush in the United States. This is because the innovation in this direction of microbial immunity may bring a spring breeze to evolution, biotechnology, gene editing for human complex diseases, and precise treatment of infectious diseases. This report will introduce the latest research progress in this field and some of the latest research results in our laboratory. Explore research prospects for the next decade.

主讲人

Wu Min, a distinguished professor (Changjiang Chair Scholar), at Wenzhou Institute University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and a former tenured full professor at University of North Dakota is engaged in research on respiratory system bacterial infection immunity. He discovered a series of bacterial pathogenic factors and revealed new mechanisms of host immune response. In addition, he studied the biology of CRISPR. For example, he found the anti CRISPR protein for precise RNA editing for the first time, and used type III CRISPR Cas to create COVID-19 gene drugs. He has formerly served as the president and moderator of many international conferences (Gordon Conference, Cold Spring Harbor Asia), and was invited multiple times to give presentations at academic conferences. Having received multiple government and foundation funding, he is an editorial board member, deputy editor in chief, and editor in chief of a dozen international magazines. He has published over 250 research papers, reviews, and comments in journals including Nat Microbiol, Nat Communs, Nature, Sci Signal, Mol Cell, Cell Host Microbe, Cell Rep, Cell Res, PNAS, STTT, and more. He participated in the second review and key project evaluation of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, as well as fund evaluations from multiple countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Germany. Nat Rev Cell Mol Biol, Nat Microbiol, serves as a reviewer for Changjiang Scholars and Overseas Outstanding Youth Scholars.
