Abstract

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) from 2006 to 2026, we are excited to announce the "Syntegrative+" Research Festival. This event will highlight the University’s two decades of research accomplishments and its spirit of innovation. Through a variety of "Syntegrative+" activities, we aim to dismantle disciplinary silos, promote collaboration between academia and industry, unleash creative potential, and empower future growth. Exhibitions can be set top cover May 22-24.

Series of Activities

1. Syntegration + Disciplines: Interdisciplinary Research Forum

• Positioning: Opening Ceremony & Core Academic Event
• Content: This forum will spotlight emerging interdisciplinary fields such as Bioinformatics, Quantum Computing, and Brain-Computer Interfaces, etc. It will bring together scholars from various backgrounds—primarily from within the University, along with select external experts—to share insights and explore collaborative opportunities.
• Highlight: The event aims to dismantle disciplinary silos, foster open dialogue, and stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration.

2. Syntegration + Heritage: "Milestone" Research Achievements Exhibition

• Timeline Corridor: A creative display showcasing 20 years of trends in research funding, publications, and international collaborations.
• Innovation & Industry-Academia Synergy: This section will highlight key technological innovations from XJTLU, transferable intellectual property, and successful industry-academia collaboration cases from 2020 to 2026. It will present tangible outcomes, patents with commercialization potential, and effective partnership models through both physical exhibits and digital displays.
• Industry-Academia-Research Achievement Exhibition: Showcasing the academy's five-year achievements in joint talent development and sci-tech collaboration with industry partners.

3. Syntegration + Future: UG/PG Research Exhibition

• Postgraduate Research Poster Exhibition: This exhibition will showcase research achievements of postgraduate researchers through academic posters from the annual XJTLU Postgraduate Research Symposiums (for instance, a five-year period from 2021 to 2026), aiming to provide an international academic platform for exchanging and discussing research ideas from 16 disciplinary areas and foster an inclusive research community among postgraduate researchers and academics at XJTLU.
• Undergraduate Research Poster Exhibition: This exhibition will feature academic posters showcasing award-winning research from the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program in recent years (2023-2025).

The exhibition will adopt a dual-mode format—an onsite poster exhibition and a smart digital posters accessible online, featuring embedded interactive content via QR codes. This initiative celebrates and recognizes outstanding postgraduate researchers who have demonstrated exceptional innovation in their research fields.

By integrating academic excellence with the university anniversary celebrations, we seek to inspire sustained pursuit of academic excellence, expand collaborative networks, and enhance the university’s research impact and social engagement.

4. Syntegration + Industry: Enterprise Technology Communication

A matchmaking event inviting research institutes and enterprises from the JITRI System to exchange research achievements and technology needs with XJTLU faculty.
