A delegation led by Jin Liu, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges and Director of the Office of China's Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs under China’s Ministry of Education (pictured above, center), visited Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University last week.
While referring to China’s plan to modernise education, which includes more international influence, Director Liu spoke highly of XJTLU’s example.
“Against the background of ‘opening up’ in education, our idea has been to develop a new teaching approach that combines quality education models and resources from abroad with what has already been developed in China,” she said.
"What XJTLU has been doing so far is perfectly in line with our mission.
“We have been paying close attention to XJTLU, because we regard it as both a pioneer and a role model for international joint venture universities.
“The Ministry of Education is highly supportive of all types of international explorations by all universities. We encourage them to put the opening-up concept in education into practice .
“We are thrilled to see that XJTLU has indeed mapped out an innovative concept, and we hope you will maintain your passion for innovation.”
