School of Advanced Technology would like to welcome and introduce our new faculty member: Dr. Suneel Kommuri. Hope they can enjoy teaching at SAT!
Dr. Suneel Kommuri
Assistant Professor
Department of EEE
Professional experience:
Assistant Professor, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, China, 2020.02 - Present
Post-doctoral Researcher, Kyungpook National University, Korea, 2019.09 - 2020.01
Research Professor, Korea University, Korea, 2016.09-2019.08
Research interests:
Dr. Suneel Kommuri’s research mainly focus on development of fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control (FTC) techniques for electrical machines and drives, applications to electric vehicles and robotics. Most of the electrical drive-based applications are equipped with sensors and actuators. Unexpected faults/failures in any of these components will degrade the overall system performance. Therefore, fault diagnosis and FTC techniques are extremely important to provide uninterrupted system operation.
Other research interests include sliding mode observers/controllers, T-S fuzzy systems, and handling cyber-attacks in cyber-physical systems. My academic research aims to develop new theoretical frameworks in the field of automatic control and validate the effectiveness of developed concepts to deal various practical problems.
Expectations for XJTLU and School of Advanced Technology:
I am looking forward to work with graduate students and international staff in a positive research environment. The collaboration with sharing of novel ideas among the staff provides interesting research opportunities for graduate students. I am also excited to build connections with international academic and industrial researchers in the field of electrical and electronic engineering to perform interesting collaborative works and projects.
Moreover, I would love to support and teach undergraduate and graduate students with boundary topics of text books, and help them to develop skills in modelling, design, and analyze with real-world examples. By doing this, the students are expected to be great designers for their future engineering solutions.
