IBSS successfully held the 2020 frontier Fin-tech training

The 2020 frontier Fin-tech training was organised by International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) and Suzhou Municipal Financial Supervision Administration last month.

This training programme attracted more than 120 employees of Suzhou Financial Office, district financial offices and representatives of the financial institutions, aiming at improving their understanding of the global economic situation and financial risk management, as well as blockchain application and supply chain finance.

Miss Chunyi Zhang from Suzhou Municipal Financial Supervision Administration and Professor Jorg Bley, Dean of International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at XJTLU attended the opening ceremony of this training and delivered welcome speeches.

Miss Chunyi Zhang emphasized the necessity of continuous learning in the finance industry, especially when new phenomena and knowledge in financial technology are emerging. She suggests that trainees should focus on the latest information about the integration of technology and finance and adapt to a "new normal" disrupted by the global pandemic and other related factors to improve their ability of risk management.

Professor Jorg Bley, mentioned that the world was developing rapidly, especially in science and technology. Additionally, he introduced the remarkable achievements of IBSS in recent years. He said this collaboration would strengthen the connection between XJTLU and industry, and facilitate the development of finance in Suzhou. Professor Bley then noted that IBSS's mission reinforces the School's responsibility to promote societal sustainable development by strengthening our innovative learning and teaching model, our leading-edge research and our close business engagement.

This two-day training programme explained the future of finance, which covered topics of "global economic situation and financial risk management", "finance application of blockchain technology" and "financial technology and the future of the financial system" from an international perspective. Dr Jiangxing Chen and Dr Qiuyu Chen from IBSS shared their academic knowledge of big data and financial derivatives to all the trainees.

Dr Qiuyu Chen, a lecturer in finance at the International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University, systematically explained the development of the financial market and analysed the global economic situation and financial risk management. Later, Dr Jiangxing Chen explained the concept of blockchain and its application prospect in the financial industry. The trainees got useful advice on banking, Fin-tech and securities from our experienced lecturers who have a strong financial background, to support their career development.
