08 Apr 2025

The XJTLU School of Languages is very glad to release its first issue of the Generative AI Toolkits for Language Teachers. As Generative AI rapidly reshapes the educational landscape, this guide, developed by the teachers from both the English Language Centre and the Modern Language Centre at XJTLU, aims to empower our colleagues, both at XJTLU and beyond,  to navigate and leverage these powerful new tools effectively.

The Generative AI Toolkits  for Language Teachers comprises two key sections:

Section One: Introduction to Selected GenAI Applications & Tools

This section offers a curated overview of various platforms relevant to language teaching – from general chatbots and education-specific assistants to specialized tools for voice, visual, and presentation generation.

Each entry offers comprehensive overviews covering functionalities, pedagogical applications, strengths and limitations, and pricing models. Step-by-step guidance ensures educators can immediately integrate these tools into their practice.

Section Two: Case Studies & Reflections

This section moves from potential to practice, featuring firsthand accounts from our colleagues who have integrated these AI tools into their teaching, sharing practical insights, challenges, and successes, these case studies provide a roadmap for readers to accelerate AI adoption in daily teaching scenarios.

The Generative AI Toolkits  for Language Teachers represent the first step in our Centres’ ongoing mission to explore and promote the thoughtful integration of AI into language education. We remain dedicated to advancing this work through continued research, experimentation, and regular updates to reflect emerging developments in the field.

We hope this resource inspires language educators to unlock the transformative potential of generative AI in their classrooms.
