Headline: The Green Dragon: How China Aims to Lead the Charge in Clean Energy

Summary: China has announced its first short-to-mid-term climate target, pledging to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 7-10% by 2035 compared to peak levels, while aiming to multiply its installed solar and wind capacity six fold from 2020 and increase the share of non-fossil energy to over 30%.

Dr Yameng Zhang, Associate Professor at XJTLU’s International Business School Suzhou (IBSS), explains that China’s green energy leadership stems from a “powerful synergy between proactive government direction and vigorous, voluntary innovation and investment by companies”.

Additionally, Dr King Yoong Lim, Associate Professor in Economics at IBSS, provides context on China’s coal expansion, noting that despite recent approvals of coal plants, China remains on track to meet its long-term climate goals due to massive ongoing green energy investments.

Headline: Call for entries for the 4th XJTLU Global Dream Chasers Entrepreneurial Competition

Summary: XJTLU opened registration for its fourth Global Dream Chasers Entrepreneurial Competition. The event invited student teams from around the world to participate in one of three tracks: early-stage ideas, mature business projects, or a corporate challenge track.

The competition offers a total prize pool of 300,000 RMB to be shared by 60 winning teams. In addition to cash prizes, winners will receive one-on-one mentorships and scholarships.
