"Me" Experience Card
Course Review
During the training, we covered topics such as how to stimulate proactive motivation, understanding the differences between dialogue and discussions, and the key components of job searching. Additionally, we introduced techniques and strategies for building a professional network, such as accumulating conversation topics for one's "Small Talk Resume". We also encouraged participants to organise their core past experiences by filling out their own "Me" experience cards and practicing their ice-breaking conversation skills in a roundtable simulation session after learning relevant techniques.
Mrs Yidan Liu, IBSS WEC Team Transferable Skills Training Specialist, provided students with a useful definition for networking. Building on three fundamental aspects of networking, she worked to guide students in establishing a positive networking mindset. This spanned the development of altruism in interpersonal relationships, acquiring practical wisdom through dialogues, and cultivating proactive motivation.
Under her guidance, students filled out their own profiles by reviewing their life experiences, thinking about how their strengths and talents could help and influence others, and sharing their own experiences of establishing connections with others.

Course Feedback
During this course, students not only mastered practical workplace social skills and strategies, but also underwent a profound transformation in their understanding of professional networking. Before the course, many students had misconceptions about establishing professional networks, focusing more on "how to network" rather than "why to network."
After the course, many students' perceptions of workplace networking changed significantly, with greater emphasis placed on altruism and helping others. They overcame their fear of conversation, set future goals based on their strengths, and triggered their social motivation and needs. They gradually realised that genuinely maintaining interpersonal relationships could build their professional ecosystem from the inside out, clarifying their boundaries, respecting and accepting their feelings. They no longer regarded professional networking as a useless social entertainment activity, but instead considered it as equally important a workplace skill as technical expertise.
