The First "HeXie Innovation Eco-Camp" Successful Concluded

On August 29, 2025, the first "HeXie Innovation Eco-Camp," hosted by the College of Industry-Entrepreneurs (CIE) and the HeXie Management Research Centre (HeXie Academy) at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), successfully concluded.

Centered around the theme of "HeXie Innovation Ecosystem," the event focused on management transformation and industrial practices in the era of artificial intelligence. Through diverse formats such as academic lectures, corporate visits, group presentations, and open discussions, students from eight domestic and international universities, including XJTLU, the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, Fudan University, Soochow University, and University of Jinan, engaged in five days of immersive learning, exchanging ideas and experiences while gaining knowledge and building friendships.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Xiaobo Xu, Executive Dean of CIE and Director of HeXie Academy, delivered a speech. He extended a warm welcome to all participating faculty and students, emphasizing that the HeXie Innovation Eco-Camp not only provided students with a high-quality learning experience but also aimed to integrate multidisciplinary and multi-industry resources, promote HeXie management theory, foster long-term "home-style" connections, and support the holistic development of young scholars. Dean Xu also expressed his gratitude to the students for their trust and participation, as well as to the faculty and staff for their dedicated efforts, which made the HeXie Innovation Eco-Camp a remarkable success.

During the five-day programme, several Chinese and international faculty members from CIE and HeXie Academy delivered a series of cutting-edge and in-depth academic sessions.

Dr. Mengyue Su presented "Four Decades of HeXie Management: Retrospective Paths and Prospective Analysis," systematically outlining the development and future directions of HeXie management theory over the past forty years. Dr. Bei Zhu shared practical tools and methodologies for leveraging AI in academic research in her session, "AI Unpacked: Leveraging Machine Learning & Large Language Models for Academic Success." Dr. Ke Wang and Dr. Changhee Kim co-delivered a lecture on "SHRM in the AI Era: Managing Global Talent and Cultural Complexity," focusing on global talent management and cultural complexities. Dr. Binqi Tang provided an accessible yet insightful exploration of key issues in "Family Business Governance." Dr. Qingwei Wang guided students in reflecting on how technology can empower the elderly care industry and enhance quality of life in his session, "Foundations of Aging: Exploring the Journey of Life." Each course combined theoretical depth with practical insights, offering students a multidisciplinary and multidimensional intellectual feast.

Beyond classroom learning, students also participated in field visits to China Life Caregarden (Suzhou) Pension Management Co., Ltd., where they explored the operational models of modern elderly care communities and gained insights into the practical applications of smart aging. They also visited Audfly Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., experiencing innovative applications of acoustic technology and gaining firsthand exposure to the R&D environment and management practices of a tech enterprise. The integration of theory and practice further enriched students' learning and reflection.

On the final day, students presented creative solutions based on their classroom learning and corporate visits. The best outcomes were selected through a competition format, showcasing their teamwork and innovative thinking.

At the closing ceremony, Dr. Wim Coreynen, Associate Professor of CIE and HeXie Academy, presented certificates of completion to the participants and delivered a speech. He emphasized that throughout the HeXie Innovation Eco-Camp, students and faculty actively exchanged knowledge and experiences on topics such as corporate governance, innovation strategy, human resource management, and smart aging through case studies and collaborative learning, highlighting the importance of integrating theory and practice. Dr. Coreynen highly commended the students' growth in critical thinking and problem-solving skills, noting that innovation stems from collaboration and mutual learning. He encouraged everyone to maintain a passion for lifelong learning.

The first "HeXie Innovation Eco-Camp" received widespread acclaim from participants for its diverse themes, international perspective, in-depth interactions, and hands-on experiences. In the future, CIE and HeXie Academy will continue to organize high-quality academic activities to foster the holistic development of young talents and cultivate outstanding individuals with global vision and innovative spirit for societal progress.
