Ruan Gang is the director of the laboratory. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the National University of Singapore. He conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Emory University in the United States and worked as a research scientist at Ohio State University in the United States. In 2013, he returned to China and joined Nanjing University as a professor and doctoral supervisor, where he established an independent laboratory. He has made a series of cutting-edge innovative achievements in the fields of nanobiomaterials, biological delivery and imaging, and regenerative medical technology. He has published numerous papers as a corresponding or first author in journals such as Advanced Science, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Nano Letters, ACS Nano, Biomaterials, and the Journal of Controlled Release. He was selected for the National Youth Thousand Talents Program and served as the assistant dean of the School of Modern Engineering at Nanjing University. As a co-founder and technical director, he established Core Quantum Technologies Inc. in the United States (https://www.corequantum.com/about/), a company dedicated to overcoming the bottleneck of industrial transformation of nanobiomaterials and developing a series of new nanobiomaterial products. The company has received funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) for the Innovation-Corps, SBIR Phase I, and Phase II projects. He has addressed key technological points for industrial transformation, such as large-scale production, quality control, and optimization for specific applications, as well as business-related key points such as financing, team building, and sales. The company achieved sales in the U.S. market recently, with customers including internationally renowned research institutions and technology companies. In 2022, he joined Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University as a Senior Associate Professor, researcher, and doctoral supervisor at the School of Pharmaceutical Science and became the Deputy Dean of Research and External Affairs in September 2023.
