The Emerging Electronics and Energy Technologies Research Centre

Centre overview

The Emerging Electronics and Energy Technologies (EEET) Research Centre brings together researchers working on next-generation electronics, artificial intelligence, and sustainable energy technologies. The Centre addresses major global challenges, including the slower pace of traditional semiconductor advancements, often referred to as the post-Moore’s Law era; China’s “dual carbon” goals (reaching peak carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060); and the growing demand for autonomous computing power to support the potential for Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), or artificial intelligence with human-level intellectual capabilities.

EEET’s research spans the full innovation pathway, from discovering new materials and developing advanced electronic devices to integrating technologies into practical systems and supporting industry adoption.

 

Impact

Through interdisciplinary research and collaboration with industry, EEET is advancing technologies that will shape the future of computing, healthcare, energy, and transportation. The Centre’s work aims to accelerate technological innovation while supporting global efforts toward sustainability and energy efficiency.
