The Advanced Communications and Intelligent Networking (ACIN) Centre is an interdisciplinary research hub dedicated to developing next-generation intelligent connected systems by integrating advanced wireless communications, artificial intelligence (AI), distributed computing, cybersecurity, and intelligent mobility technologies.
The Centre brings together internationally recognised researchers to address emerging challenges in 6G communications, integrated sensing and communications (ISAC), AI-native networking, edge intelligence, trustworthy AI, intelligent transportation systems, connected autonomous vehicles, and low-altitude intelligent systems. Through close collaboration with industry and international partners, the Centre translates cutting-edge research into practical technologies that support future smart cities and digital infrastructure.
The ACIN Research Centre focuses on four interdisciplinary research themes that drive the development of next-generation intelligent connected systems:
1. Next-Generation Communications and Intelligent Sensing
6G communications, wireless sensing, RF (radio frequency) technologies, antennas and intelligent electromagnetic systems, and millimetre-wave biomedical sensing.
2. Edge Intelligence and Intelligent Networks
AI-native networking, cloud-edge computing, distributed intelligence, and intelligent network optimisation.
3. Cybersecurity and Trustworthy AI
Cryptography, privacy-preserving computing, blockchain, trustworthy AI, and secure intelligent systems.
4. Intelligent Transportation and Low-Altitude Systems
Intelligent connected vehicles, digital twins, vehicle-road-cloud collaboration, UAV systems, and intelligent urban systems.
Together, these four research themes establish an integrated research framework spanning next-generation communications, intelligent sensing, edge intelligence, trustworthy computing, and intelligent connected systems, supporting technological innovation for future digital infrastructure and smart cities.
