Facilities at the Taicang Campus (XEC)

The XEC campus of the Academy of Film and Creative Technology (AFCT) focuses its laboratory resources on the complete film and television production process and interdisciplinary practice, and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The main building (G) contains five audiovisual editing rooms (G3011–G3016) and two immersive recording studios (G3021–G3022), covering the entire workflow from video editing (DaVinci Resolve, Avid Pro Tools) to colour grading (Baselight systems), surround sound production (Genelec 5.1 monitoring), and Dolby Atmos mixing (9.1.4 standard).

The teaching spaces include an animation laboratory (42 Mac studios with M1 Max chips), a game development laboratory (NVIDIA RTX 3090 graphics cards), and a high-performance computing room supporting intensive computational requirements for animation creation, game development, and virtual production. Additionally, the digital imaging laboratory (G3023) enhances practical skills in post-effects technology.

The campus promotes the integration of industry, academia, and research through resource sharing and industry-level platforms. The Equipment Service Centre (G2021) provides equipment rental and technical support, while the Flexi Studio exhibition hall (656.5 square metres) and the X Arcade game laboratory (equipped with mainstream gaming platforms) facilitate work exhibition and interactive project development.

The comprehensive facilities utilise international brands such as Blackmagic Design and Genelec.
