Health and fitness courses

The Physical Education Centre is responsible for delivering compulsory health and fitness courses to undergraduate Mainland Chinese students. These courses are credit-bearing and require students to take assessments in order to pass.

The courses are part of national initiatives in China to ensure that universities provide adequate opportunities for students to participate in sport.

The PEC works closely with the student body to design these courses, using annual surveys to gain feedback on the kinds of activities students are interested in. Popular activities include Ultimate Frisbee, taekwondo, tai chi and yoga.

As part of the requirements of the Chinese Ministry of Education, the PEC conducts the National Student Fitness Test, which measures the fitness levels of all Mainland Chinese university students.
