At Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, sports are an indispensable and vibrant chapter of campus life. Currently, our university proudly hosts 36 student sports clubs, covering a wide range from traditional ball games to emerging trendy sports. This provides every student with a broad platform to discover interests, challenge themselves, and make friends.
The XJTLU Sports Centre is always committed to encouraging and supporting the development of student clubs. We fully respect the independent operation and self-management of clubs, offering practical guidance on funding applications, activity planning, and organisation and coordination. The XJTLU Sports Centre also provides clubs with comprehensive venue facilities and resource support, ensuring that all sports activities can be carried out safely, orderly, and wonderfully.
These sports clubs are not only arenas for students to strengthen their bodies and pursue hobbies outside the classroom but also vital carriers for cultivating leadership, teamwork, and a sense of community belonging. From daily training to intra-university leagues, from club recruitment drives to special themed events, the vibrant energy of our 36 clubs collectively paints a thriving and dynamic picture of sports culture on the XJTLU campus.
At present, there are currently XJTLU university teams representing ten sports, which are golf team, archery team, men’s basketball team, women’s basketball team, tennis team, Ultimate Frisbee team, badminton team, football team, table tennis and rugby team.
These teams represent the University at competitions at local, provincial and national level and the PEC supports their development. Players for these teams are chosen through selection events, often coming from the extra-curricular sports clubs, or are spotted by PEC staff during physical education activities. XJTLU teams have enjoyed success in recent years, including success for the Ultimate Frisbee team, the men’s basketball Team and the Golf team.
