Zheng Gu is an architect and urban renewal practitioner based in Shanghai. He graduated from the College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP) of Tongji University and later acquired National First Class Registered Architect Certificate.
He runs two firms simultaneously: Fusion Architects specializing in the design of large-scale housing, cultural, educational and mixed-use urban projects; Dedang Design specializing in the design of small-scale rural projects, urban renovation, and research into the preservation of historical heritage.
Zheng has been employed as a part-time tutor in the Department of Architecture since 2019. In his 20 years of local architectural design and teaching practice in China, he has tried to explore the diversity and complexity of space through architecture, as well as the public value and collective memory of places, to create sustainable connections between people in their daily lives. This is also his response to the major issues arising from global urbanization.
