Teaching Assistants in the Department of Physics of School of Mathematics and Physics

Applications are invited for teaching assistant (TA) positions in the Department of Physics of School of Mathematics and Physics (SMP) at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). The TA positions are open to all qualified PhD students and Master’s students on campus of XJTLU who are interested in applying.

 

Position Overview:

The School of Mathematics and Physics invites applications for Teaching Assistants in the undergraduate physics laboratory. The appointees will instruct year-1 undergraduate students during lab sessions and assist in grading laboratory reports.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare lab equipment and materials prior to each lab session.
  • Attend all required training sessions and TA meetings.
  • Guide students through experiments, actively providing advice and assistance as they conduct their work in the lab.
  • Grade student laboratory reports and provide constructive feedback.

 

Modules include:

  • PHY001 Classical Physics for Engineers
  • PHY002 Physics (Physics II: Electromagnetism)
  • PHY003 Introductory Electromagnetism and Quantum Physics
  • PHY005 Physics I: Mechanics
  • PHY006 Physics II: Introduction to Electromagnetism

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD or Master’s student in Physics, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • High sense of responsibility and reliability.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Previous university-level lab teaching experience is preferred.

 

Time Commitment:

  • The position requires approximately 80 to 120 hours of work in total.

 

The Pay Rate

  • XJTLU PhD students: RMB 60/hour (before tax)
  • XJTLU Master’s students: RMB 50/hour (before tax)
