ProfileDr. Jiaqi Wang (汪嘉琪) received his bachelor's degree from Jiangsu University in 2015, and master's and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering and computational materials science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2018 and 2020, respectively. He has been a research assistant professor at Westlake University since September of 2020 and now an assistant professor in Wisdom Lake Academy of Pharmacy, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. He has received the Yates Dissertation Fellowship, Graduate Professional Promise, and Outstanding MABE graduate student award from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Wang's research lies at the intersection of computational materials science (i.e., molecular dynamics, ab initio calculations) and machine learning (as well as deep learning) to accelerate the design of biological materials such as peptides and proteins for various applications (e.g., hydrogels, drugs, vaccines, and semiconductors). He has published in leading journals such as Nature Communications, Advanced Science, Briefings in Bioinformatics, Advanced theory and Simulations, etc., as first or co-first author. He is now actively collaborating with industry to develop peptide cosmetics and antimicrobial peptides for plants. Wang's group is now welcome potential master students for inquiry of possible research opportunities in peptide drugs discovery (and antibiotics, cosmetics, etc.)!
