The Centre is supported by two labs, the Digital Accounting Lab and Case Lab

Labs and facilities

The Digital Accounting Lab (DALab) aims to advance research and innovative teaching methods in accounting. Its main emphasis is on the use of technology to support accounting research and teaching. The DALab has developed a series of projects focused on both accounting research and the applications of technology in learning and teaching.

There are three high-performance workstations with GPUs that provide computing power for machine learning models and natural language processing (NLP) models. DALab will offer computing support for researchers with GPU computing requests for their machine learning, deep learning, or NLP models.

The Case Lab aims to enhance business education by facilitating the development of high-quality teaching case studies in the age of artificial intelligence.

History

The Case Lab was established in December 2024, transforming from the former Case Development Centre (CDC).

Mission

We leverage the expertise of XJTLU’s world-class faculty and the IBSS’s extensive business connections to create case studies from an Asian perspective, aimed at those interested in studying businesses in the Asia-Pacific region. Our mission is to promote business case studies through workshops focused on case development, teaching, and writing. We offer these workshops to students and faculty members from business schools throughout the region.

Strengths

Presenting business cases from Asia to enhance the understanding of diverse cultures, management styles, ethics, and business environments in the region, with a specific focus on Greater China. Our world-class faculty writes and oversees case studies to meet exceptional quality standards.

Focus on collecting field cases to ensure that the case materials are derived from primary sources, including interviews with key decision-makers within the company. The case collection will feature materials available in English, with some also available in Chinese, aimed at students worldwide, including students in undergraduate, graduate, and executive education programs, as well as industry practitioners and professionals. Members of the VaseLab are actively engage in collaborations with companies to promote inter-university cooperation in case writing and the case method.
