Dr. Hai Ning Liang is an Associate Professor at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) at the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering. He is the founding deputy director of the Research Institute for the Ageing and Society. He was previously a Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Manitoba and a Researcher at National ICT Australia based at the University of Queensland. He is also a research associate at the National University of Malaysia’s Institute of Visual Informatics, where is a PhD supervisor, and at the University Institute of Lisbon’s Information Sciences, Technologies, and Architecture Research Center; he is also an Adjunct Research Professor at the University of Western Ontario.
Dr. Liang completed his PhD in computer science from the University of Western Ontario, where he received a Postgraduate Research Scholarship by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and other awards. More recently, he received the Backbone Scientific and Education Talent 2015 award from Suzhou Dushu Lake Higher Education Town Administration due to his contributions in research and teaching at XJTLU, the 2014-2015 XJTLU Outstanding Teacher Prize and the 2012-2013 XJTLU Most Innovative Teaching Practices Prize (Highly Commended). Dr. Liang has received a number of best paper awards at international conferences. He participates regularly in conference organizing committees. He is member of the International Chinese Association of Computer Human Interaction and promotes actively research advances in human-computer interaction research in China. He has published over 70 papers which are indexed by SCI, EI, ISTP, and SCOPUS. He often serves as a reviewer and program committee member of international conferences.
