BA ENGLISH AND INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS

English and International Business

Overview

The interdisciplinary BA English and International Business programme offers academic subjects related to English and language studies and courses on international business. The aim is to produce graduates who not only understand how international business works but also have an excellent command of languages and a critical awareness of the use of languages in business and professional contexts.

The English side offers three pathways (you will choose one to pursue): the Linguistics pathway, the Literature pathway, and the Interpreting and Translation pathway. Regarding the other side, i.e., International Business, you will study marketing and international management alongside students in XJTLU’s International Business School Suzhou (IBSS).

  • Use your insights into how language works in different cultures and work-settings to improve work relations and work efficiency
  • Have specialised knowledge in both English studies and international business — an ability highly valued by employers

Modules

*Programme modules listed are illustrative only and subject to change.

UK degrees are three years long whereas in China they are four, therefore we do accept students with certain qualifications directly into Year Two, which is the start of the main academic programme. Most students, however, enter into Year One, which provides you with a range of interesting modules, language classes and core skills for your degree.

This programme develops critical thinking skills to look beyond disciplinary boundaries between business and linguistics. It allows me to synthesise ideas and explore topics from multiple perspectives. Interdisciplinary knowledge leads me to embrace greater creativity and open-mindedness. They are beneficial to my career and my life.
