Ferdinand Kappes

Profile

Ferdinand studied Molecular Biology at the small reform University of Konstanz, Germany (康斯坦茨大学; https://www.uni-konstanz.de/en/), where he also completed his PhD studies under the guidance of Prof. Rolf Knippers. During this time he developed a keen interest for chromatin biology and in particular for the non-histone chromosomal factor DEK.
He then moved to the USA for his postdoctoral research time, where he continued to study DEK in the laboratory of Prof. David M. Markovitz at the University of Michigan Medical Center (密歇根大学; https://www.med.umich.edu/ ).
In 2010 he returned to Germany to establish his independent laboratory at the RWTH Aachen University (亚琛工业大学; https://www.ukaachen.de/kliniken-institute/institut-fuer-biochemie-und-molekularbiologie/institut.html) at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Prof. Bernhard Lüscher).

He joined the Department of Biological Sciences at XJTLU in 2017.
