Xi Liu

Profile

Xi LIU received her PhD from Dept. of Comparative Literature, the University of Hong Kong. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Dept. of China Studies, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University.

Her main research fields are modern & contemporary Chinese literature and women's studies. She also traces the genealogy of critical theories including post-structuralism, post-Marxist feminism and post-humanism as well as the application of them in the Chinese context. Her research on China studies covered a long historical period from early 20th century to the present. Her research articles appeared in top-ranked CSSCI and SCOPUS-indexed journals on Chinese literary and gender studies including Literary Review, Theoretical Studies in Literature and Art, Contemporary literary Criticism, Collection of Women's Studies and Frontiers of Literary Studies in China.

She teaches modules on Chinese literature, theatre and film to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Currently as the principal supervisor she is supervising three PhD students who work on contemporary Chinese literature. (No PhD recruitment plan for 2021-2022) She serves as the Academic Advisor for Diversity Association since its establishment in 2018, promoting gender equality, diversity and inclusion together with students at XJTLU.
