Abstract

This presentation will briefly introduce the concept of precise identification of radioactive nuclides developed by the radiochemistry research team at Soochow University and its applications in used nuclear fuel reprocessing, nuclear wastewater treatment, and emergency response to nuclear accidents.

Speaker

Professor Shuao Wang is the Director of the State Key Laboratory of Radiation Medicine and Protection and a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He obtained his Bachelor's degree from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2007 and his Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame in the United States in 2012. From 2012 to 2013, he conducted postdoctoral research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the University of California, Berkeley. He is currently engaged in research on the application of radiochemistry and nuclear technology to meet the major needs of China's sustainable nuclear energy development and nuclear security. As a corresponding author in the past five years, he has published over 180 papers in international journals such as Nature (1), Nat. Commun. (8), J. Am. Chem. Soc. (13), and Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (15), and has been granted 25 patents domestically and abroad. He has been awarded the China Youth May Fourth Medal, China Youth Science and Technology Award, Tencent Science Exploration Award, Young Chemist Award of the Chinese Chemical Society, Young Scientist Award of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, and Young Scientist Award of the American Chemical Society.
