This symposium-dialogue event will present the fruitful outcomes of the collaborative initiative among the UN-Habitat, XJTLU (Design School), and Seoul National University, titled “Monitoring Smart Inclusive Transition (SIT) towards Equitable Urban Futures, using Global Urban Monitoring Framework”. This event will foster multi-stakeholder dialogues based on a publication resulting from this initiative, discussing how to apply SIT for sustainable and equitable urban futures.
Monitoring Smart Inclusive Transition (SIT) towards Equitable Urban Futures, using Global Urban Monitoring Framework
SIT, an approach that integrates “smart” and “inclusive” dimensions is introduced as a driver for urban transition towards equity. The SIT Analysis is presented as an essential tool for holistically monitoring the performance of cities in their efforts to achieve the United Nations' 2030 Agenda. Built on the Global Urban Monitoring Framework of UN-Habitat, the SIT Analysis uses Urban SDGs indicators to monitor key strategies for cities to achieve urban equity – i.e. Infrastructure and Essential Services for All; Effective Urban Management through Coproduction; Social Justice for Vulnerable Residents; Digital Innovation for Collaborative Solutions; and Sustainable Production & Consumption of Resources.
The symposium-launch will not only present the essence of the publication, but also serve as a platform for discussing the implications and practical application of the SIT Analysis with various stakeholders including academia, UN, industry, and public sectors.
