Abstract

The event has invited three outstanding alumni who will share their experiences and insights in applying for master’s and doctoral programmes, aiming to provide students with the most detailed guidance and assistance in understanding the application process. From the initial preparations to the final stages, it will help clarify the application process and answer any questions that may arise.

Speakers

Yimin Lin
Bachelor's Degree in Digital Media Arts from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Master's Degree in Photography from the Royal College of Art, and PhD in English, Culture and Communication from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University.

He has been the representative of Digital Media Arts graduates of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, and received a master's degree in distinction from the Royal College of Art. Speciality: AI digital art, pure art, engaged in art education for two years.

Shuangyuan Cao
• Title: Bachelor's Degree in Digital Media Arts, Class of 2022, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Master's Degree in Digital Humanities, Class of 2023, University of Cambridge

Having studied for a Master’s degree at the University of Cambridge, focusing on a combination of critical theories and practical methods and their implications on the formation and reformation of thought due to the pervasive presence of media, he has earned an MPhil distinction degree at the University of Cambridge and a BA first class honours degree at XJTLU. His research paper titled “Learning to Play: Understanding In-game Tutorials with a Pilot Study on Implicit Tutorials,” written during his undergraduate studies, has been accepted by an SCI-indexed journal. Additionally, he has maintained an interest in the production of indie games.

Yilin Li
Bachelor's Degree in Filmmaking from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, pursuing a Master’s degree in Cultural and Creative Industries at XJTLU

She worked for three consecutive years at MEGA, chairing the third edition specifically. She was recognized as an Outstanding Party Member of the Year at XJTLU. She worked as the general coordinator of the interactive theater Mirror’s Edge and participated in the filming of The Voice of China Suzhou Special.

Her work is renowned for its meticulous attention to detail, narrative depth, and a strong sense of visual storytelling, with a particular emphasis on documentary, promotional, and commercial films. Her undergraduate project, Imperial Kiln Brick, garnered multiple awards, including Best Short in the Jiangnan Culture category at the 4th MEGA International Creative Media Festival, Best Documentary Short at the 7th Dabie Mountain Film Festival, the SHISW Monthly Best Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Short, an Outstanding Work Award at the 5th Guangzhou International Imaging Competition, and the Best Documentary Award at the Aasha International Film Festival, among a total of 14 accolades.
