Abstract
In this talk we will present a general introduction to the study of large diffusion problems, a type of singular perturbation.
We will consider a family of reaction-diffusion boundary value problems where the diffusion rate becomes larger and larger in a subregion of the domain where the problems are posed. Two questions then arise:
1. What is the limit problem (if any)?
2. In which sense do the solutions of the approximated problems converge to those of the limit?
We will answer these questions using a semigroup approach. If time allows, we will also discuss the asymptotic behaviour of the approximated problems and their relation to that of the limit.
