What’s your story? Enhancing research outreach through personal narratives

2024-03-07

3:30 PM - 4:30 PM

CB135(SIP campus, onsite only)

Part of the UMC research outreach workshop series

  • Do personal stories have a place in research communication?
  • How can personal narratives be used to communicate research findings and increase research impact?

Although a researcher’s journey is often hidden from view – the months of unsuccessful experiments, challenges in finding theorem proofs and sleepless nights fretting over funding – these are the stories that resonate universally; an audience can relate to them regardless of background.

During this workshop, we will discuss why your stories matter in research communication and how they can be used to increase your research’s reach and impact. We’ll look at examples of how great research communicators from past and present have captivated and engaged their audience with their research stories, and you will have an opportunity to share your own.

When: Thursday 7 March from 15:30 to 16:30
Where: CB135 (SIP campus, onsite only)
Facilitator: Dr Catherine Diamond
Language: English
