Speaker

Professor King is Associate Dean for Entrepreneurship & Enterprise Hub, with 23 years creative innovation experience. Designing immersive learning games and spaces, his projects have attracted over £3M.

Having spent almost two decades developing innovative enterprise initiatives in the UK, Andrew’s doctoral study was inspired by an early career in as a game developer; recognising the effect of nurturing and passionate, virtual and physical affinity spaces on learning engagement and user satisfaction. Having collaborated with students on nearly 30 commercial projects, ranging from telemetry for a world land speed record attempt (Bloodhound SSC), Virtual Reality design software (Rolls-Royce, CITB, HAE), and numerous serious games projects including a Horizon2020 project which translated player analytics into air-quality policy packages (ClairCity.eu), he is experienced in many modes of technology collaboration, and the effect of immersive virtual and physical learning activities.

A former game developer turned academic, Professor King believes formal education must learn from the informal games and online spaces which students immerse themselves in beyond the classroom; to create a vision of a future campus able to meet the demands of the next industrial revolution.
