XJTLU Environmental Science Professors and Students Invited to Talk about Environment and Sustainability in Shanghai

Professors and undergraduate students from XJTLU Environmental Science Department recently were invited to present their works at the 1st Shanghai International Collegiate Conference with the theme of environment and sustainability.

About 300 students and professors from a number of local universities attended this conference.

Dr. Lynda Petherick as a keynote speaker presented the topic of Environment and Sustainability: Past, Present and Future Challenges.

Other students' presentations are based on their research projects, which include the impacts of park ages on soil carbon dynamics based on the measurement of soil respiration, assessment of the impacts of particulate matter (PM2.5) on aquatic ecosystem functioning, dry deposition of atmospheric PM2.5 to wave water surface, effects of PM2.5 on the behavior of freshwater snail Bithynia tentaculata, and water quality change in pesticides and pharmaceutical and personal care products (PPCPs) with urbanization processes in Suzhou.

The students were led by Dr. Lynda Petherick and Dr. Bailiang Li, they said "they are very delighted that our students can present their work with confidence and get positive feedbacks from audience".

These presentations have caught much attention from the audience and received many positive feedbacks from the audience. This conference was organized by Shanghai Advisory Committee on EFL Teaching at Tertiary Level and China English for Academic Purposes Association.
