On March 15th, the Symposium "Landscape, City and Water: Regional Planning and Design" was successfully held by the Institute of Landscape Architecture, Zhejiang University and by Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. Professors and scholars from the Netherlands, Belgium and China were invited to discuss the regional planning and design theories and practices in the intersecting fields of urbanization, landscape transformation and water management from the Chinese and Western perspectives. The forum was moderated by Dr. Christian Nolf, an associate professor at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and by Dr. Yuting Xie, lecturer at the Institute of Landscape Architecture.
Four lecturers were invited to give keynote speeches, including Dr. Steffen Nijuhis, Associate Professor from Delft University of Technology, Dr. Christian Nolf, Dr. Wei Guo from Beijing Forestry University, and Dr. Yuting Xie. At the end of forum, four speakers and two guests—Dr. Yongchao Zhou, associate professor from the College of Civial Engineering and Architecture and Dr. Yunwen Chen from the Institute of Landscape Architecture joined a round table discussion. They exchanged their experiences on transdisciplinary planning and design of landscape, urban and water management systems at multiple scales to cope with the complex social-economic and environmental crises our society are facing nowadays.
