Library helps students unlock searching skills

October 10, 2019

Students at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University who want to learn more about how to search for information can take advantage of the final days of the XJTLU Library’s ‘E-Discovery Week’ today and tomorrow, 10-11 October.

The annual event introduces students to smart information retrieval techniques for use with electronic resources both in English and Chinese and furthers their understanding of the academic writing process.

An InfoClinic held Thursday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 p.m. is designed to solve students’ questions about searching or using electronic databases. For example, students may ask the on-site experts about how to find suitable databases for a subject or how to publish a paper.

Workshops held Thursday afternoon will introduce students to the CASMAR database and provide help with Web of Science research.

On Thursday and Friday, students can visit electronic resource exhibition booths and learn about library resources with the assistance of event staff and volunteers.
