XJTLU 3rd in Chinese mainland’s young universities

According to the latest Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2022, released on 15 February, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University retained its spot as the third-highest ranked Chinese mainland university under 50 years old.

The number of universities from the Chinese mainland in this year’s THE Young University Rankings grew from eight in 2021 to 11 this year, and the number of universities ranked in it overall grew from 475 last year to 790 this year.

XJTLU is ranked 170 out of this year’s nearly 800 universities, and the overall score improved from 39.9 to 41.1.

The University’s citations score in this ranking rose to 71.8 from 66.4, underlining the research focus.

“It’s clear from these THE outcomes that XJTLU's research performance continues to be stronger than anyone could reasonably expect of an institution just 15 years old,” says Professor Chris Harris, Vice-President of Academic Affairs.

“This is already a feature of institutional success in this young university. Moreover, the fact that XJTLU is remaining ahead of the competitive curve and also accelerating in terms of citations and overall score is a welcome tribute to the hard work and intellectual strengths of our researchers."

Of the 11 Chinese mainland universities included, XJTLU has the highest proportion of international students and has maintained its gender ratio of 53% female to 47% male students.
