Headline: Why are polders an important part of China's water heritage?

Dr Jinjin Lu at XJTLU’s Academy of Future Education, and corresponding author of the study, says: “During the interviews, many parents mentioned that Inner Mongolia’s unique location and rich natural resources had drawn their attention to how the environmental factors could influence children’s growth. The parents were curious to know, for example, whether the geomagnetic field could influence a child’s physical and mental well-being. It seemed that the parents were eager for more specific knowledge on family education in Inner Mongolia.”

Headline: Scientists hoodwinked by touch-me-not plants for decades

Summary: Two species of the ‘touch-me-not’ genus (Impatiens) – the Blue Diamond (Impatiens namchabarwensis) and Toothed Busy Lizzie (Impatiens arguta) are adorned with trumpet-shaped flowers in a spectrum of colours, and their similarities made many scientists believe they belonged to the same species.

However, in a recent study published in the Nordic Journal of Botany, researchers from XJTLU and the University of Bonn in Germany have identified some vital differences between the plants that disentangle their classification and confirm they are separate species.

XJTLU’s Dr Bastian Steudel, a corresponding author of the study, says: “We are facing a mass extinction of species worldwide, so it is essential to recognise every species and their distribution patterns.”
