Dr Xin Bi joins panel discussion at QS China Summit 2024

Dr Xin Bi, Chief Officer of Data at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, recently joined a panel at the QS China Summit 2024. The summit, themed “Remaining Distinct in Global Higher Ed: China’s Place in the New World of Education”, took place from 17 to 18 April at Conrad Shanghai, China.

As the global higher education landscape continues to evolve, it is crucial for regions to establish their unique identity on the global stage. The summit explored how universities in China can better understand themselves and their value proposition to contribute to China’s global leadership in higher education.

Dr Xin Bi

During the discussion, Dr Bi spoke on the impact that AI will have on higher education and shared the projects on which he and his colleagues at XJTLU are working to enhance the education, research and daily work with AI at the University.

Other panellists included Allen Wan, Senior Editor and Bureau Chief of Bloomberg News; Chen Wang, China Head of Marketing of Duolingo; Dr Long Qin, Senior Expert of Alibaba Cloud; and Professor Cecilia Chan, Director of Teaching and Learning Innovation Centre and Professor in Education at the University of Hong Kong.

During the discussion, the experts delved into embracing technology – generative AI, in particular – more responsibly and ethically. They also explored the capabilities and limitations of technology in the classroom and draw insights from experiences in other regions.
